The Lane County Fair continues through Aug. 22. It's fun for all ages, featuring everything from a special kids' Activity Zone to the thrill of the Zipper. Musical events include The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards (Aug. 19), Chris LeDoux (Aug. 20), Jo Dee Messina (Aug. 21) and George Thorogood and The Destroyers on Sunday, Aug. 22. See Thursday, Aug. 19 Calendar or go to www.atthefair.com

The Oregon State Fair gets busy at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem. From Aug. 26 through Sept. 6, the fair features contests, music, art, rides, a rodeo and more. Stacie Orrico, Sawyer Brown, Tracy Byrd and Palomo are all musical headliners. See Aug. 26, On the Road or go to www.oregonstatefair.org

Like it hot? Want to learn how to shake it and look sexy while you do? Two days of tango workshops with Carlos & Maria Rivarola, legends of Argentine tango, takes place at The Tango Center. Learn the Argentine waltz or enroll in a class titled simply, "The Big Moves." Carlos & Maria also perform one exhibition each night at 9:30 pm. See Friday Calendar.

What does it mean to be Eugene? Try something as eclectic as The Peter Sellers Experience, a musical film adventure at the Downtown Lounge. The evening consists of three bands: Mood Area 52; Maniscewitz; and Scrambled Ape playing to projected clips from old films, 1930's sex-ed videos, cartoons and esoteric Latvian shaving product commercials. Scrambled Ape's new CD, Comprehensive Atlas of 21st Century AM Radio Classics will be available at the show. See Friday Calendar.

The Chicago Tribune said, "If a band could ever be a microcosm of Chicago, Sonia Dada is it." Dada brings its finely honed and diverse fusion of rock and soul to the WOW Hall. The band is tight as hell, given their proclivity towards letting members express themselves to the full diversity represented by their different instruments. The nine-piece group has had almost no lineup change in nearly 14 years. See Saturday Calendar.

Actors Cabaret presents two nights of the East Coast-West Coast One-Act Festival. The featured plays, Behind Every Great Man, Dates Are an Ugly Sweet Fruit, The Right Sensation and Settling the Score, underwent a development process of public readings, discussions, rewrites and finally showcase performances at Cabaret's sister theater, The Workshop Theater of New York City. Actors Cabaret seeks to work with local writers to create new works that have lives beyond local readings. See Thursday, Aug. 19 Calendar.
