Deadline for Calendar and Art in the Galleries submissions are noon on Thursday, a week before the issue that covers your event. Send an e-mail with event, date, time, location and cost to attend to Molly at cal@eugeneweekly.com

The Hult Center puts on something a little different this weekend when BREAK! The Urban Funk Spectacular comes to town. BREAK! is a positive, family-oriented dance show that pays tribute to hip hop dancing, tracing the roots of the art form over the last 30 years. Dancers in the troupe — who've done time with the likes of Madonna, Janet Jackson and Puff Daddy — have earned standing ovations on five continents with their head spins, cartwheels, flips, drumming, beatboxing and more. See Tuesday Calendar.

What's that, you say? You've never heard of the Moustache Rally? Time to change that, dear friends. Friday night John Henry's hosts the 3rd Annual Moustache Rally, which, along with a cross-section of possibly-moustachioed Eugene bands, features a Moustache Appreciation Ceremony and the Moustache Hall of Fame. Some people spend all of November prepping and primping for this one, so a camera might not be a bad idea. Ty Connor hosts the evening; The Visible Men, Yeltsin, The Captain and Neal and Turbonegro cover band Burt Reynolds Overdrive provide the non-follicular entertainment. And, of course, you get in cheaper with a moustache of your own. Whether or not it actually has to be real, we're not certain. See Friday Calendar.

Though there are a few less stops (understandably, what with it being a holiday weekend and all) this month, we think the Last Friday Artwalk seems like a fantastic way to spend the evening after Thanskgiving — after all, won't we all have a few extra calories to be walking off? The usual suspects are open this month, inlcuding Possum Place, The Fire House Studio, the Museum of Unfine Art and Sam Bond's Garage, where Claire Flint's "Icons" show (including "Watermelon," pictured at right) has the first of two receptions. Traipse around town with a hot cocoa in hand, check out some art, and feel better about your slightly snug belt all at once: What could be better? See Friday Calendar.

More than 155 wee pieces of art — no more than 10" in any direction — are on display at Alder Gallery as part of La Petite XIII, a national small format juried art competition. The show, which has an artists' reception Saturday afternoon, features works from many media: Oil, watercolors, photography, fibers, collage, mixed-medium, fine crafts, sculpture, glass, jewelry, ceramics, wood, and probably anything else you can think of. "There are many advantages to small works of art," says the press release. "It's exciting for the artist to try and create his or her idea clearly and precisely in a small space and for the collector, small is a treasure. Viewers find themselves up close to inspect the fine details and nuance of each work." Don't miss the charming Tic Tac Toe to Go by Kat Winters. See Saturday Calendar and Art in the Galleries.
