.This Week's Calendar | Galleries | Music @ the Clubs

Deadline for Calendar and Art in the Galleries submissions are noon on Thursday, a week before the issue that covers your event. Send an e-mail with event, date, time, location and cost to attend to cal@eugeneweekly.com

In what has to be the perfect antidote to all this talk of art and wine and hand-crafted guitar licks (see below), the SummerJam 2006 at the McDonald Theater promises a be-all, end-all stampede of booty-shaking, break-dancing and many words ending in –licious. SummerJam is composed of 21 guys and seven gals all ready to make you clap your hands say hell yeah … and all you have to do is stop, collaborate and listen. Alternatively (because we're an alt weekly we have to do this), if you want a healthy cast of musicians playing dance music of a different phylum, check out Ty Connor's Hot August Nightmare at Sam Bond's. See Saturday Calendar.

Sometimes we have to wonder if Eugene really needs another summer festival featuring wine. So far we've had Art and the Vineyard, Wine & Garlic, and Wings and Wine (yes, that's wine-tasting and bird-watching). But, well … why not? This week we have the opportunity to sip wine and get down with the blues at Secret House Vineyards' Wine and Blues Festival. The featured act this year is the Chicago Blues Reunion, comprised of an all-star lineup of blues legends (and if you've ever visited the Windy City in winter, you know why the blues is best there). See Saturday Calendar.

A handful of venues for the upcoming Last Friday ArtWalk won't be showing this month (hmmm … are they on a European work year?), but still a heaping handful and a half will be showing this Friday in the Whiteaker district. Go to www.lastfridayartwalk.org,print out a map, strap on your walking shoes and wear your best impression of a billionaire art collector. Ninth Place Studio features acrylic canvasses by Regan Lee and James Rich; Infinity Mercantile is bedecked with paintings by Jennifer Fogerty-Gibson (pictured); Better Yet has works on transparency by Leslie Lucir; 462 Polk has arty creations from Kiki Metzler and friends; Possum Place opens its space for the artist known as Sara; and, in case all that walking is too facile for you, Michael Wherley will be leading circle dances in Scobert Gardens Park. See Friday Calendar.
