Opening Nights The Odd Couple (Female Version) Opens Friday, Oct. 6, at the Cottage Theatre, 700 Village Drive, Cottage Grove. The Cottage Theatre's publicity has been chock-full of the fact that this play is the female! version! of Simon's play. At first, we found the hullabaloo weird (It's 2006, people; can't we bend gender a bit without getting our panties in a twist?), but then we discovered that we were dead wrong: It was playwright Neil Simon who made it a big deal by rewriting the play in 1985 for women. If you've seen The Odd Couple (Male Version), or if you haven't but you enjoy comedies, definitely check out this, er, amusing and maddeningly goofy play. Show dates are Oct. 6-8, 13-15 & 20-21.
