.This Week's Calendar | Galleries | Music @ the Clubs

Deadline for Calendar and Art in the Galleries submissions are noon on Thursday, a week before the issue that covers your event. Send an e-mail with event, date, time, location and cost to attend to cal@eugeneweekly.com

You know, there’s nothing like a little ukulele music for a good cause … and this week that good cause is the North Eugene High School Ukulele Club. Supposedly the word ukulele means “jumping flea” in Hawaiian, but we promise you won’t get any fleas for your $5 donation at 7:30pm at Cozmic Pizza on Thursday, April 16.

Sunday is Easter, and, church-going aside, for many of us that means chocolate bunnies, Peeps and jellybeans in happy spring colors. It also means small children running around searching for eggs filled with goodies that will soon lead to the post-Easter sugar-high, and having pictures taken with an oversized rabbit. Luckily for you egg-seekers, Lane County is rife with egg hunts and Easter events. Check out the Kids/Families events on Saturday and Sunday for an egg and bunny event near you.

Spring is here, and you know what that means: Bird watching. The McKenzie River Trust invites all you twitchers and birders out there to Green Island on Saturday (and again on May 16) to see the flying feathered creatures at MRT’s restoration project in process. If you can’t make the bird watching, and hunting Easter eggs doesn’t appeal, then see the hikes and walks offered by the Obsidians, Cascadia Wildlands Project, Hendricks Park and others under Outdoors/Recreation this week.
