Eugene Weekly : Calendar : 12.24.09

.This Week's Calendar | Galleries | Music @ the Clubs

Deadline for Calendar and Art in the Galleries submissions are noon on Thursday, a week before the issue that covers your event. Send an e-mail with event, date, time, location and cost to attend to cal@eugeneweekly.com

If you love the popping bulbs of the paparazzi and all that goes along with it, you might want to jump head first into Valley River Inn’s New Year’s Eve “Funkabration,” which will find the Willamette Ballroom transformed (some might say metastasized) into a hot Hollywood nightclub, complete with red carpet, blazing lights, plasma TVs and danceable tunes provided by Eugene’s own Satin Love Orchestra. $40 adv., $45 door; buy tickets at http://wkly.ws/26

For your New Year’s Eve delectation, inebriation and ritual ringing in of 2010, Eugene’s beloved WOW Hall is setting a whole slew of entertainment on stage. Of course, Medium Troy, the self-proclaimed kings of Bohemian dub, will headline the festive affair, joined on stage by Sean Ponder and James Green of Reeble Jar. But you will also want to be on hand for Twinkle Thizz and the Big Dippers, The T Club featuring the hot hot hot SolaRay Fire Dancers, as well as the string-band goodness of Mossy Top (pictured). Enter the new decade rolling on the floor to this colorful collision of reggae, bluegrass, flame and fury, and all your resolutions, gratefully, will go up in smoke. $10 adv., $12 door; tickets at http://wkly.ws/25
