Eugene Weekly : Calendar : 3.25.10

.This Week's Calendar | Galleries | Music @ the Clubs

Deadline for Calendar and Art in the Galleries submissions are noon on Thursday, a week before the issue that covers your event. Send an e-mail with event, date, time, location and cost to attend to cal@eugeneweekly.com

Hailing from Chicago, The Hood Internet is a pair of mash-up techno dudes — Aaron Brink, aka ABX, and Steve Reidell, aka STV SLV — whose particular forte is the revved up, buzzed out and bass heavy collision of hip hop and latter-day indie rock. Now, that’s an assload of impy rock critic categories and labels for one sentence, by which it should be obvious that the music churned out by The Hood is a cool hodgepodge that spans a range of infusions from Lil Wayne and (or rather vs.) Modest Mouse, DJ UNK vs. LCD Soundsystem, and Pimp C vs. The New Pornographers. Sick and wrong? Deft and ingenious? Too many deejays? Up to you, sister. What you can’t argue is that The Hood Internet is here and now. Catch them 9pm Sunday with Tobacco at WOW Hall; $8.

Hey, art lovers, bohos, yahoos and yanks! Get some freaky spring in yo step for the chez outré Last Friday ArtWalk on March 26, which runs from about 5:30pm or so til say 9pm in the punky/funky/slamdunky Whitaker hood and includes, this go ‘round, eyepopping visible delights and diversions at such estimable locales as One Cup Café, Ninkasi Brewery, Studio 508 and oh-so-many more gallerias. Be sure not to miss Aaron Sullivan’s exhibit at Redoux Parlour, “Pensive Jitter Syndrome,” which is a collection of zany, macabre and morose illustrations painted onto old wine barrel lids. Yummy. You can get a map at www.lastfridayartwalk.org
