Eugene Weekly : Calendar : 3.31.11

.This Week's Calendar | Galleries | Music @ the Clubs

Deadline for Calendar and Art in the Galleries submissions are noon on Thursday, a week before the issue that covers your event. Send an e-mail with event, date, time, location and cost to attend to cal@eugeneweekly.com

Local charities and nonprofits hope that the later daylight hours will spring Eugeneans into a generous mood; area do-gooders are hosting a cornucopia of benefits this week. FOOD for Lane County is raising money for its gardens with a spring plant sale Saturday; UOs Ethos Magazine is also raising funds and food for FOOD at its annual three-on-three basketball tournament that same day. Tuesday, 60 Oregon food and beverage folks will donate their wares to Chefs Night Out for the weeks final FOOD fundraiser. The Imperial Sovereign Court of the Emerald Empires "Damsels, Divas & Dames” drag show is helping raise funds for the HIV Alliance Saturday, and a concert at the Morse Center will benefit Hosea Youth Services. We know about two events to raise money for relief efforts in Japan: the UO Sendai Earthquake Relief Effort hosts a festival April 2, and an awesome seventh grade class at Briggs Middle School is holding an evening concert with local bands and a dance performance to do the same. The Actors Cabaret hosts Eugene Laff Off for Greenhill Humane Society, and McShanes is also having a bike raffle for GHS. Look in this weeks Galleries section for info on Maude Kerns Art Centers "A Toast to Jell-o,” and in the rest of the calendar for benefits for The Reach Center, Ugandan women and more.
