.This Week's Calendar | Galleries | Music @ the Clubs

The dream of running into the forest forever and getting away from it all is a very real thing to Evelyn Hess. The author and former greenhouse manager at UO lived in Eugene and maintained her relationship with nature through her work with plants and volunteer work at Mount Pisgah. But Hess and her husband adventured further into nature in their late 50s, moving to 20 acres of land in the Coast Range. Hess chronicled the experience of adjusting to a life in the wild in her memoir To the Woods. Hess, hosted by the Western Environmental Law Center, reads, discusses and signs copies of To the Woods 5:30-7pm Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Tsunami Books.
