Eugene Weekly : Calendar : 12.29.11

.This Week's Calendar | Galleries | Music @ the Clubs

Deadline for Calendar and Art in the Galleries submissions are noon on Thursday, a week before the issue that covers your event. Send an e-mail with event, date, time, location and cost to attend to cal@eugeneweekly.com

Just as Helen of Troy’s beauty has been blamed for dragging Troy and the Greek city-states into battle (and inspired cults devoted to her), cheese makes us — and we deny any personal responsibility — do very bad things. Cheese will continue this tradition of war-mongering when it pits wine against beer at Cheese Wars III Thursday, Jan. 5. Five cheese courses will be paired with a beer and a wine, and tasters will vote for their favorite beverage. Ninkasi brewmaster Jamie Floyd brings the beer, and Brooks winemaker Chris Williams presents the wine. All proceeds from the event benefit the fine folks at Greenhill Humane Society. Cheese Wars III kicks off at 5:30pm and 8pm Thursday, Jan. 5, at Supreme Bean, 2864 Willamette; $25 advance only, see http://wkly.ws/15g for info.
