• You can “Bee Jazzy” and support Beyond Toxic’s efforts to save Oregon’s bees on Aug. 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm for $30 at Silvan Ridge Winery, 27012 Briggs Hill Road in Eugene. There will be wine tasting, live music with the Zac Wolfe Jazz Band and a silent auction. 

• Learn about citizen journalism and the basics of investigative reporting at a free workshop Thursday, Aug. 20, 6 pm, with Amy Beasley and Aryn Bartley of the Community Writing Center of Eugene-Springfield at Lane Community College. • Learn to save seeds from Sarah Kleeger and Andrew Still of Adaptive Seeds 4 pm, Aug. 25, at the Oak Creek Center for Urban Horticulture (844 S.W. 35th Street in Corvallis). The $25 three-hour workshop hosted by the OSU Extension Small Farms Program will cover the basics of selecting and saving seeds. The hands-on portion will include a seed-cleaning demo.
