Coyotes, talking dogs, mythical two-headed beasts, a bogeywoman with good intentions and family-napping soldiers are all obstacles on 12-year-old Miguel’s quest to both literally and figuratively find his voice in ¡Bocón!, a play produced through Corvallis’s The Majestic Theatre this February.

Nine Female Faces of War

The UO Department of Theatre Arts continues to bring new perspectives to the stage with its production of 9 Parts of Desire, a play that delves into the lives of Iraqi women. The play is set to debut in March, marking the 10th anniversary of the Iraq War.

The Adventures of Ballet Fantastique

Travel. Take risks. Be a little dangerous. These are the inspirations for the upcoming 2013  season at what is arguably Eugene’s most daringly innovative ballet company, Ballet Fantastique. Comprised of seven acclaimed dancers and co-directed by mother-daughter team Donna and Hannah Bontrager, Ballet Fantastique aspires to offer expressive ballet productions full of exploratory storytelling, original choreography and masterful technique.

Devant Side of the Moon

Beer and ballet. The combination is so Eugene it’s a wonder this isn’t already a decades-long tradition. It certainly isn’t any more unusual than watching cyclists smoke cigarettes as they lumber down Willamette Street, for example, so an event which brings both of these things together should be something that will please and amuse many.

Surrealist Movement

It’s like nothing else you have ever seen. Largely Butoh (Japanese avant garde) dance, other parts live music, animation, portraiture and stunning lighting techniques, Degenerate Art Ensemble (DAE) is an impressive display of props, visuals and music — and if any one element falls out of balance, the effect could be ruined or enhanced, depending on how you want to look at it.
