Local Mixed Martial Arts Competition

The folks at Midtown MMA are at it again with their third in a series of mixed martial arts shows, highlighting local fighters and local gyms. Midtown Throwdown III will present a 16-fight card starting at 6 pm Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Lane Events Center. Each match will consists of three three-minute rounds, where fighters may win by way of knockout, submission, technical knockout or decision.

“These are all exciting match ups with fighters who are hungry to show their skills,” says heavyweight competitor and local mixed martial arts journeyman Jimmy Jennet. “Fighting keeps you humble. And all these guys put so much work into their training; it’s really going to be exciting.”

The night will be a showcase of amateur and pro fighters, with a stacked undercard and two marquis matchups to look out for. Main event Corey Wyatt will compete in his professional debut against Darrio Mobley, and two-time Pac 10 wrestling champ All-American Colby Covington will face off against ground-and-pound slugger Chris Ensley in the co-main event. Also not to be missed is the amateur heavyweight tournament, which will feature two giants, Jimmy Jennet and Anthony “The Joker” McDonald, as they square off against each other for the belt.
