Opening Nights

A Christmas Truce opens Friday, Dec. 5, at the ACE Annex.

Y’know that beautiful movie with Ethan Hawke in it about the WWI holiday when German and English soldiers stopped the carnage and played soccer with one another? This is like that, except without Ethan Hawke or the on-location shots. Another premiere for ACE, which has four productions in the last two months of this year — on the day itself, we’re calling for a Christmas truce so Joe and Jim can have some rest! But before that, you’re going to want to check out this play about a moment of goodwill and what happened after. Show dates are Dec. 5-7 & 12-14. Tix at www.actorscabaret.org or 683-4368.

Glengarry Glen Ross opens Friday, Dec. 5 at the Very Little Theatre’s Stage Left.

Profane, hilarious, awful and … well … profane, David Mamet’s famous play (also a movie with Alec Baldwin, etc.) about the hell that is real estate and male competitive jostling comes to town just in time for the holidays. Seriously, isn’t it superb to have an alternative to the happy warm glow of loving human nature? This is more about the rabid side of that same human nature. Sweet. Show dates are Dec. 5-7 & 11-14. Tix at 344-7751.
