Valentine’s Weekend Roundup

Valentine’s Day (or Forced Romance Day, Singles Awareness Day — whatever you prefer) and the proceeding weekend are packed with excellent shows, so grab your schmoopy or your sweet self and paint the town red. Kick off Feb. 14 with the Shook Twins ($13 adv., $15 door) and From Cole: With Love: A Valentine’s Day Cabaret (Feb. 14-17, $12) at Corvallis’ The Majestic Theatre and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony at WOW Hall (see music shorts).

Friday, Feb. 15, is full of good vibes with world-class bassist Victor Wooten at The Shedd ($14-$36) and two female-led bluegrass acts: Opal Creek at Sam Bond’s ($5) and Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys at Axe & Fiddle (see music shorts). Saturday, Feb. 16, get razzed up with the socially-conscious hip hop of Dead Prez at WOW Hall (see music shorts) before dancing to the Grammy-winning Afro-Cuban All Stars, Portland’s bluegrass-rock band Sugarcane at Cozmic ($6 adv., $8 door) or Sol Seed at Sam Bond’s ($5). End the night with the love heat of Mood Area 52 and Insomniac Folklore at Luckey’s ($5). Tie a bow on the weekend, Feb. 17, with former Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart at the McDonald ($25), Marv Ellis at Sam Bond’s and Ott at WOW Hall ($12 adv., $15 door).
