LCC scores Green Genome Award for sustainability

LCC just received a wonderful 50th anniverary present: an award from the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) deeming our local community college the best in the category of governance when it comes to operating the campus in a more sustainable way.

From AACC’s Sustainability Education & Economic Development website:

For more than 20 years, Lane Community College (LCC) has been incorporating sustainability into its institutional structure, facilities, and curriculum. By signing the Talloires Declaration, the college committed to sustainability education, operations, and outreach. Its clear policies and implementation plans, which range from following LEED standards to moving toward carbon neutrality, sets a path for meeting its goals. LLC established the Institute for Sustainable Practices to tie curriculum and practices to sustainability and dedicated staff and funds to sustainability, which puts resources behind its values.

Having won a Green Genome Award, LCC will receive, among other things, $7,500 and equipment for its Learning Garden. See here for more info.
