• Our local food economy is the topic at City Club of Eugene at noon Friday, Nov. 6, at the Downtown Athletic Club, 999 Willamette Street. Speakers include Lynne Fessenden of the Willamette Farm and Food Coalition, Jack Gray of Winter Green Organic Farm and Charlie Tilt of Hummingbird Wholesale. $5 for non-members. The following week, Nov. 13, City Club will meet at the Serbu Youth Campus across from Autzen Stadium to talk about the facility and take a tour. 

Zero-emission buses and other transportation issues are the topic of a local Sierra Club community forum at 7 pm Tuesday, Nov. 10, at the UO Law School, Room 110. Community members recently delivered more than 1,000 postcard signatures to Lane Transit District in support of LTD investing in zero emission buses. LTD is planning to launch its first five zero-emission electric buses in 2016.

• The city of Springfield is currently seeking applications to serve on the city’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. Applications will be accepted until 5 pm Friday, Nov. 13. The city will fill seven to 13 positions on the committee. See the city’s website or call 726-4585.
