The following night the Westbound Coyote String Band plays with Zach Bryson and Cardboard Caravan 7 pm Saturday, Jan. 9; $5. Both shows are all-ages until 10 pm.

There’s a twangy doubleheader happening at Sam Bond’s 9:30 pm Saturday, Jan. 9, when Appalachian folk band Goodnight, Texas and Austin’s “trashgrassin’ folk tornado” Whiskey Shivers come to town; $12. When it comes to Whiskey Shivers, The Washington Post summed it up well: “Austin’s Whiskey Shivers are bluegrass-fueled Americana for a generation that grew up listening to punk rock. This group of twentysomethings plays banjos, fiddles and washboards at breakneck speeds while singing high, lonesome harmonies about love and video games.”
