In music venue news, The Barn Light East (845 East 8th Ave.) has announced they will be hosting live music. 

Barn Light co-owner Thomas Pettus-Czar tells KVAL-TV: “As opposed to other environments in which [music is] sort of in the background, this is an opportunity where folks can grab a beverage, sit down and really pay attention to the artists.” Look for show announcements soon. 

Also, California indie-rockers Silversun Pickups return to McDonald Theatre with Joywave 8 pm Wednesday, June 8; $29.50-$35, all-ages. And ’70s glam rock-heavy metal megasauruses KISS come to Eugene, July 9 at Matthew Knight Arena; tickets on sale April 15.

Chris Robinson Brotherhood

This week, Chris Robinson Brotherhood (formerly Black Crowes) comes to Hi Fi Music Hall 8 pm Sunday, April 17; $25, 21-plus. That same night, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers return to Eugene 8:30 pm at Cozmic; $15 adv., $18 door, 21-plus.

At Sam Bond’s this week is the old-timey gypsy-swing-kazoo jazz of Petunia and the Vipers. Petunia will play two shows: 6 pm Friday, April 15, FREE, all-ages; and 9:30 pm, $10, 21-plus. 

Also at Sam Bond’s, Reno-Tahoe area groove-meisters Jelly Bread play 9:30 pm Saturday, April 16; $7, 21-plus. California gypsy rockers Diego’s Umbrella return to Sam Bond’s 9 pm Wednesday, April 20; $8, 21-plus. And Corvallis-based indie rock band Vandfald play Sam Bond’s with Thom Simon 9 pm Thursday, April 21; $5, 21-plus. 

Speaking of Corvallis, if you missed Bay Area rapper Lyrics Born recently at Hi Fi, catch him 9 pm Wednesday, April 20, at Cloud & Kelly’s in Corvallis; $20, 21-plus. 

Back in Eugene, local punk band Not a Part of It has been added to hardcore legends DRI’s show at The Boreal. Also performing are Wolfpack and Spit Vitriol 6 pm Thursday, April 21; $16, all-ages. Tickets are going quickly. 

Hayseed Dixie bring their bluegrass-meets-hard-rock sound to Old Nick’s alongside Eugene’s Whopner County 9 pm Thursday, April 14; $15, 21-plus. Outlaw-country musician Ryan Chrys and the Rough Cuts comes to Old Nick’s for a free show 9 pm Tuesday, April 19; 21-plus.

For newgrass and string music fans, head down to Hi Fi Lounge and catch Pert Near Sandstone and Head for the Hills 10 pm Thursday, April 21; $10, 21-plus.

On Tuesday April 19, TAD Talks: Innovation District comes to downtown’s McDonald Theatre. Tad Talks “feature exhibitions and performances by local artistic talent and a speaker series … TAD Talks: Innovation District will focus on downtown Eugene’s revitalization, with the growing tech industry, a vibrant arts and culture scene, and a general engine of innovation being cultivated.” Performing is Ki D Esign of Eugene hip-hop group The Architex along with beer tasting, a photo exhibit and much more starting at 5:30 pm; $15. — William Kennedy
