33rd Annual Oregon Asian Celebration
February 17 • 10:00 am - 7:00 pm
One event on February 18, 2018 at 10:00am
This weekend is the 33rd annual Oregon Asian Celebration. This year’s theme for the event is “Year of the Dog — Bark to the Future,” featuring a very cute futuristic Shiba Inu dog on its poster. The event always features tasty food, local vendors, martial arts, dance and other facets of Asian culture but, in keeping with its future-focused theme, this year it plans to “focus on new activities around the academic disciplines of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics),” according to its website. The Asian Celebration is partnering with school districts to celebrate local achievements in STEM. The celebration is also partnering with other local groups like the Greenhill Humane Society to feature a photo contest about dogs and their loyalty to humans. There will also be cooking demos and a ton of live music like Japanese Taiko drumming and Hawaiian ukulele.
The Oregon Asian Celebration is 10 am to 7 pm Saturday, Feb. 17, and 10 am to 6 pm Sunday, Feb. 18. Tickets are $6 for one day or $10 for the weekend. The event is FREE for kids 12 and under and also FREE for those 13 and older, including college students, when showing a student ID and a special student admission ticket that can be picked up at any Oregon Community Credit Union branch.
