Book reading by local Eugene author

August 24 • 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Free

Local Eugene author Kyle Yamada will read an excerpt and sign copies of his first novel, Metanid Convergence. The event will take place at the Knight Library browsing room at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24th.

Metanid Convergence is the story of Cassie, a teenage hacker, who must save herself and the world from an artificial intelligence gone bad. Her technophobic grandfather is the only person she can trust to help solve the riddle that holds the key to her survival.

Fast-paced and thought provoking, Metanid Convergence is a sci-fi thriller that explores a world in which humans have delegated the most important decisions in life to machines.

Yamada, a high school social studies teacher, spent eight years conceptualizing, writing and revising his novel during summer breaks. Publishing a book has been a dream of his ever since he was a kid growing up in Corvallis.

A limited number of copies of Metanid Convergence will be available for purchase at the reading for $10. The book will also be available in e-book and print formats on Amazon.com starting on August 17.
