6th Annual Newberry Event Music Festival brings National Touring Live Music to South Deschutes County

Lettuce, the legendary East Coast Indie funk jam band, headlines Saturday night. For more than two decades, Lettuce has brought new vitality to classic funk. This is an exclusive Oregon performance on their west coast tour. Brooklyn based Pimps of Joytime headlines Friday night, an American soul funk outfit delivering high-energy shows. The festival lineup explodes with socially conscious, positive-messaged bands.

July 27, 28 & 29, the 6th Annual Newberry Event Music & Arts Festival / Charity Fundraiser to Defeat Multiple Sclerosis is an OUTDOOR festival held at DiamondStone Guest Lodge. With over 20 bands on two rotating stages, the lawns, shady aspens & pines create a beautiful venue. With limited tickets, it’s a private party for a good cause. Dance in the grass just feet from the stage. A memorable summer getaway, tent camping and admission for kids under age 13 are FREE; with discounted teen tickets and RV sites for sale.

L.A. based duo HONEYHONEY could be called alternative bluegrass folk. Other artists featured will be acclaimed Idaho-born and Portland-based identical twins Katelyn and Laurie Shook, the Shook Twins, with dreamy harmonies. From San Francisco, Con Brio is vibrant funk and psychedelic-soul sounds pioneered by groups like Sly & the Family Stone. They’ve become a West Coast institution with magnetic live shows, swiveling hips, splits and backflips. Also from the Bay area, The Stone Foxes‘ rock is raw with a blues filter. Just some of the other bands this year are Five Alarm Funk – Vancouver, WA, American troubadour John Craigie, Sammy Miller and the Congregation – New York, NY, the Portland duo Talbott Brothers, and Pat Simmons Jr. (son of Doobie Brothers Pat Sr.) from Maui, HA. Deja Neaux, a Rogue Valley Fusion band reinterprets Jazz, Funk, and R&B with tight grooves. Bend locals Natty Red and Bobby Lindstrom join the mix.

With a myriad of vendors – great food (breakfast too), local brewery beers, Kombucha, & distillery vendors, you’ll find everything you need for the day or weekend. You’ll also enjoy aerial artists, homemade arts & crafts, a silent auction plus raffles of incredible fine art and merchandise. Tickets on sale now at www.NewberryEvent.com. Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological and autoimmune disease that can keep people from moving. Come rock out and dance for those who can’t. Raise awareness and research funds to find the cause and develop a cure. The 501c3 charity benefits the Oregon National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Don’t miss it!

Reviews: “We come from Boise each year. Front row center to some of the best musicians I’ve ever seen and heard. You don’t want to miss this one. Great people and vendors all around. Come as a stranger, leave as a friend.”
“One of the best family gatherings on the west coast! Great music, great fun, and great people. The Newberry Event set a new standard with high fidelity sound by Sonic Solutions.”
