Children’s Rights, Human Rights: A Multicultural Celebration of Our Future
December 9 • 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm• Free
“Children’s Rights, Human Rights: A Multicultural Celebration of Our Future” is a celebration honoring the 70th anniversary of the United Nations adopting the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”
This year’s event is hosted by WeCU (Whole Eugene Community United, a Workgroup of the Eugene Human Rights Commission), the Eugene Human Rights Commission, and Churchill High School. It focuses on global and local human rights from the perspective of children, and on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, a treaty which has been ratified by every country in the United Nations, except for the United States.
The celebration will feature entertainment, speakers, food, invited local human rights organizations, and a children’s corner. Entertainment will include performances by children and youth groups representing different cultures, religions, and ethnicities. Speakers will highlight efforts to protect children’s rights. Food will include cuisine from different cultures.
The event is free, open to the public, and all ages are welcome.
The celebration of “Children’s Rights, Human Rights” will take place on Sunday, December 9, 2018, from 3 to 6 pm in the Winston Churchill High School cafeteria and auditorium in Eugene.
