Collaboration in Color at Emerald Art Center
An event every day that begins at 3:00am, repeating until February 1, 2019
The Emerald Arts Center will feature a pair of local abstractionists, Nathan Nichols and Barbara Weinstein, through January in the Jaqua Gallery. The show, titled “Collaborations in Color…A Sonata of Seasons” will host a reception January 11, during the Second Friday Springfield Art Walk, from 5 to 8 pm.
The show will feature colorful exuberant paintings in abstractions representing form and vision.
Nichols tries to interpret moments in time in an abstract way.
“I try to select colors for my work that will blend in with the seasons,” Nichols said. “Hopefully the end result will be a fine piece of work, as original as possible.”
Nichols admits he stays very busy in the summer especially, preferring to work outside whenever possible.”
Weinstein is also heavily influenced by the outdoors, enjoying Plein Air painting, as well as painting from live models and portraiture. She has lately found a passion for abstraction in both acrylics and collages, creating bold and colorful abstract paintings and collages.
Weinstein holds a BA from Syracuse University in Fine Art and Art History and has studied at Cooper Union and the Art Students League in New York City, as well as a degree in Health Education and Counseling Psychology.
The Emerald Art Center is located at 500 Main St, Springfield, Oregon.
