Comment Writing Workshop: Stop Jordan Cove LNG Energy Project
January 8 • 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
For more than 14 years, southern Oregon communities have been fighting a proposal from a Canadian energy company to build a 229-mile Pacific Connector fracked gas pipeline and the Jordan Cove LNG export terminal, collectively called “Jordan Cove.” The Oregon Department of State Lands is one of several state agencies that can shut down the Jordan Cove LNG by denying necessary ‘removal-fill’ permits needed for dredging related to the pipeline and terminal.
This January, Department of State Lands Director Vicki Walker and DSL staff will host hearings in Southern Oregon and Salem to hear from community members about the Jordan Cove LNG and Pacific Connector pipeline project. Eugene activists are invited to travel with others to one or both of these hearings: Wed Jan 9 (5:30-8pm) in Canyonville and Tues Jan 15 (4-8pm) in Salem. We hope to bring out hundreds to attend these hearings and give public comment to demonstrate overwhelming opposition to this project.
Join us for this comment writing workshop to craft your talking points and get some public speaking practice! The workshop will be held at the Cascadia Wildlands space in the Mahonia Building at 120 Shelton McMurphey Blvd, Suite 230. Refreshments and writing materials provided!
