Dia de los Muertos/Day of the Dead
November 1 • 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 6:00pm on Thursday and Friday, repeating until November 2, 2018
Death doesn’t prevent us from our loved ones, and Día de los Muertos is a chance to reconnect with them through remembrance and celebration. The celebration brings about altars with offerings, traditional art, music, dance, poetry and food to welcome souls in their journey to the living world for a brief visit. Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art will hold a celebration that features dancing, poetry readings and live music by Purhembe from Michoacán. Identidad y Folclor will have a dance performance. The celebration will also feature an exhibition of prints and paintings by artists from Guanajuato, Mexico.
The 37th annual celebration of Día de los Muertos at Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, located at 1430 Johnson Lane, is 6 to 9 pm Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2. FREE. —Henry Houston
