Dianna Nadeau will hold a book reading of ‘Pola’s Flower’
October 6 • 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm• Free
There is nothing better, in my opinion, than getting cozy and sharing the experience of an excellent story with a growing mind. I had the pleasure of snuggling up to my own little guy by the fire and enjoying an incredible book by a local author. Pola’s Flower is written by Diana Nadeau, who lives right here in Eugene. The book is best described as soul nourishing; its message reaches deep inside children and adults alike and reminds there is beauty everywhere – even in loss. The story is whimsical, yet powerful and centers around a little girl, Metog-ma, and her best friend of a grandfather, “Po-la” in mid-century Nepal. The story is a moving journey of growth and self-discovery from a child’s perspective. Each page is graced by the artwork of Lobsang Gyatso’s traditional Tibetan illustrations, that are as magical as the story being told. Artfully written, the book takes you on a journey through Tibetian culture, love, loss and a powerful family bond. The book left a strong impression on both my son and myself. It’s a powerful book for any reader — regardless of age.
Dianna Nadeau will hold a book reading of Pola’s Flower at 2 pm Saturday, Oct. 6 at Tsunami Books, located at 2585 Willamette Street. FREE. — By Elisha Young
