Disaster Movie in the Park: San Andreas
August 31 • 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm• Free
At some point in his life, The Rock no longer wanted to be the “people’s champion” and decided to trade in his professional wrestling prestige to become a movie star. Sadly, wrestling has never recovered from his departure. Regardless, if you can smell what The Rock is cooking, then you probably know the importance of emergency preparedness. Disaster Movie in the Park: San Andreas is the perfect event to showcase one of his movies and have a lesson in what to do when Oregon’s “Big One” finally happens (you know, that pesky 9.0 earthquake that we’re bound to have one day). Before the movie starts, learn more about emergency preparedness, see the Eugene-Springfield Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan and vote on which mitigations projects you think Eugene should complete. Best of all, there’s free popcorn. San Andreas is rated PG-13.
The festivities is Friday, Aug. 31, 7:30 pm and the movie shows at dusk. The event is located at Washington Park, 2025 Washington Street. FREE. — Henry Houston
