Jell-O Goes Gold: Celebrating 30 Years
March 31 • 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm• $3 – $5
Art is subjective. Really, anything can be art if you really think about it. Graffiti, clothing, even food. Although when I think of edible art work I usually think of something like an ice sculpture, Maude Kerns Art Center (1910 E.15th Avenue) has something different in mind for its Jell-O Art Show, “Jello Goes Gold.” The one-day art show takes place 5 to 8 pm on Saturday, March 31. The Jell-O Art Show is an annual affair and this year includes a “tacky food buffet” with edible Jell-O treats, “benedictions from the Jell-O Queen and Slug Queen” and a performance by the Radar Angels, Eugene’s “doyennes of April Fools’ Day silliness.” If you’re feeling creative, you are invited to bring your own Jell-O artwork to be displayed — Jell-O artists must bring their creations to Maude Kerns between 3 and 4:30 pm and there is a $3 display fee for each piece of art submitted. If you’re just coming to view the show, there is a suggested donation of $3 per person and $5 per family. — Meerah Powell
