Kalani Pe’a

January 26, 2019 • 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$23
Kalani Pe’a returns to The Shedd by popular demand on tour in support of his new CD, No ‘Ane’i, Hawai’ian for “We belong here”. One of the main concepts of the album was to remind the Hawaiian people of the value of becoming primary resources of their land so that they maintain and retain those resources so they can thrive in Hawai’i. He emphasizes the significance of building a foundation and becoming part of that foundation and upliftig and upholding the values of acting and thinking in a Hawai’ian perspective while maintaining one’s cultural identity. “We are responsible for becoming a pillar for our people;”, proclaims Pe’a, “to carry out the torch and light of our ancestors. Hawaiian language is the foundation to everything. We belong here. This is our land. We must thrive!”
Pe’a has risen to be one of the best young Hawaiian singers, bringing a modern sensibility to his own vision of Hawaiian traditions. His first CD, 2017’s E Walea won a Grammy and the Na Hoku Hanohano Award. We are extremely pleased to welcome him back to Jaqua Concert Hall.
