Lincoln Gallery Summer Showcase Exhibition
June 1 • 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm• Free
The Oregon Supported Living Program’s Arts & Culture Program is a diverse and inclusive community arts program, open and accessible to people of all abilities. Many artists that frequent our program are adults with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities. Opening on June 1, during the First Friday ArtWalk, our Summer Showcase Exhibition will feature artwork from participants in our Open Art Studio, Clay, Comics and Zines, Fiber Arts Circle, and Watercolor classes.
Additionally, the Summer Showcase will highlight work from three recently completed mentorships through our mentorship program, which pairs an artist from our open studio with a professional artist in the community for one-on-one guidance. A selection of pottery by Dana Woodall will be on exhibit along with work from his mentoring artist, Mari Corrigan. Sculptures by Susan Peterson will also be on exhibit along with artwork from her mentoring artist, Kailey Ruiz, and a video game application will be shown, created by George Dean with the help of his mentor, Ted Carter.
The Community Room Gallery, our on-site gallery featuring artists from the community, is showing “Annexed”, by Joseph Peila:
“Photography is part of our everyday lives. Annexation creates new images. Appropriation (from Latin appropriate, “to make one’s own”, later “to set aside”) is the act of setting apart something for its application to a particular usage, to the exclusion of all other uses. By that, a new image is born. These images are whispered memory in a dream.”
Harp music will be provided by Ben House
Refreshments provided by The Kiva Grocery and WildCraft Cider Works.
