M.C. Chris with Bitforce
April 15 • 7:00 pm• $12 - $15
On Sunday, April 15, the Community Center for the Performing Arts and University of Oregon Campus Radio 88.1 FM KWVA welcome M.C. Chris back to the WOW Hall along with special guests Bitforce.
M.C. Chris first played the WOW Hall on May 18, 2005. That was the famous Revenge of the Sith Tour during which he vowed to watch Star Wars Episode III on every stop of the tour. The WOW Hall rented Valley River Center’s Regal Theater so he could watch the movie with his fans after the show. He later repeated the show + movie event with the first Transformers film. M.C. Chris was one of the first rappers to focus solely on nerd life, rapping about Star Wars, Harry Potter, ninjas and unrequited love. He got his start as an animator on Adult Swim. He was writer, actor, songwriter and lead animator for shows like Sealab 2021, The Brak Show, Space Ghost Coast to Coast and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Since leaving Williams Street to pursue a career in music, M.C. has released seventeen albums. He’s collaborated with Talib Kweli, Andrew WK, Cee-Lo, Childish Gambino and GWAR. He’s performed at SXSW, PAX, Fun Fun Fest, Bamboozle, Warped Tour, GwarBQ, The Gathering, Comicon, Dragoncon and countless others conventions. His music has been featured in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Jay and Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie, America’s Funniest Home Videos. Broad City and So You Think You Can Dance? M.C. most recently guest starred on a punk compilation album dedicated to Dr. Demento and made a cameo on GWAR’s latest album The Blood of Gods. A new album is to be released sometime in 2018.
Bitforce is a superhero band of inter-dimensional warriors that use their heavy hitting music to battle the evil forces that threaten to destroy all of existence. These 8-bit warriors don light-up armor to use their music to go to war with a multiverse of villains, both well known and original. San Antonio’s nerdy heroes bring their own flare to all the favorites from your childhood.
Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day of show, and are available at U. of O. Ticket Office, WOW Hall and www.ticketweb.com. Doors open at 7:00 pm and showtime is 8:00. The WOW Hall is located at 291 W. 8th Ave. (the corner of 8th and Lincoln in Eugene) and is open for all ages (6-11 half price at the door when accompanied by parent or adult guardian; five and under no charge).
