Maru-A-Pula Marimba Band Fundraiser Concert
April 24 • 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
• $4 - $12
One of Africa’s finest, the MaP Marimba band is performing in Eugene 6:30-8:30 pm Tuesday, April 24 at the Village School Commons, 3411 Willamette St. The group has:
- performed for U.S. Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush
- played live on the NBC Today Show
- featured on the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric
- toured USA, Brazil, Portugal and Canada
Every two years, alternating between the East and West coasts, the Maru-a-Pula Marimba band delights American audiences with the unique sounds of the African marimba. The energy of our students is legendary. They’ve inspired the infirm to rise up from wheelchairs, adults to cavort in the aisles and children to spin, bounce and jump with joy. No one sits still!
Performing that night will also be Kutsinhira Cultural Arts Center’s teen marimba band Chapwititi and the Village School’s 8th grade class.
All proceeds benefit the Maru-a-Pula Orphan Scholarship Fund which covers tuition, boarding, travel expenses, clothing, medical aid, stationery and toiletries for 20 orphans.
