Midnight Darlins and The Poorhouse Millionaires Live at the Axe & Fiddle
August 11 • 8:30 pm - 11:00 pm• Free
Sparse musical arrangements alongside raw and intimate lyrics, Melissa Ruth’s songs often reflect the rural Oregon landscape that she calls home. While Ruth’s songwriting has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Mary Gauthier (3rd Coast Music, Austin TX), Melissa’s right-hand-man Johnny Leal relies heavily on his blues sensibilities. Together the Midnight Darlins create their signature Doo–Wop Twang sound: A lil country, a lil blues, a lil rock, and a lotta soul.
Poorhouse Millionaires are a group from Modesto California founded in 2012 by Big Earl Matthews and Ray Vazira as an acoustic duo. They have since gone electric and have become a 5 piece band. On this tour Big Earl is heading out with one of his bandmates Cole Hinkle. You can expect to hear both men singing original songs ranging from blues to country Americana. Earl and Cole bring fire and passion to their music in their own unique ways.
