Our wild places and outdoor spaces belong to us all. However, despite the physical, social, and mental benefits of being outside, many people today don’t get outside for a variety of reasons. These can include a lack of gear, transportation issues, lack of knowledge about outdoor recreation, and in some cases, a fear of the outdoors, due to unfamiliarity. For people with disabilities, people of color, and girls and women in general, rates of outdoor participation are even lower.
To celebrate people from diverse backgrounds getting into the outdoors, NYC is sharing a series of important and ground-breaking films with Lane County audiences. The movie trailers for these productions can be found below after each description.
Tickets: To attend the movie showing we ask for a suggested $5 donation or you may donate a pair of work gloves. Adult beverages will be available while supplies last.
Screenings are located @ NYC Headquarters, 2621 Augusta St. in Eugene. The event is on the 27 Bus route and there will be a shuttle provided to the downtown bus station after the movie. The location is also bike friendly.
