Power of Tower Concert in Kesey Square
July 6 • 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm• Free
Lane Arts Council is bringing Power of Tower to Kesey Square for a funk rock concert 5:30-7:30pm during the July 6th First Friday ArtWalk. FREE!
This event is supported by the City of Eugene Cultural Services Division, through a grant from the Downtown Program Fund.
Power of Tower is Eugene’s new Tower of Power tribute band celebrating East Bay funk. This collaboration draws from some of the Pacific Northwest’s heaviest funk musicians to bring a tornado of sound. A five-piece horn section, 3 lead vocalists, and super groovin’ rhythm section will make you wanna funkifize! They will be opening with music by The Meters.
Recent Bay Area transplant and bassist, Johhny G (who had the pleasure of actually playing with Tower of Power) joined forces with Tim McLaughlin (Eugene-based funk/jazz/rock musician) to find likeminded Eugene musicians to start a Tower of Power tribute band. In 2017, the band formed after a long search for just the right players. The Power of Tower’s first two shows were at the WOW Hall in Eugene and the Doug Fir in Portland, and the immediately earned devoted fans. Now every show continues to build on that momentum as they bring this soul vaccination down to the nightclub!
