Ron Wyden Talks on ‘Dark Money’

November 2 • 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Free – $5

Money talks but dark money whispers. Sen. Ron Wyden will hold a discussion about the impact that “dark money” has on U.S. elections and how Congress needs to protect U.S. democracy through legislation. These steps are necessary to protect our democracy from foreign hackers. Wyden has made protecting U.S. elections from hackers a big priority as of late. He recently came to Eugene to announce a bill he sponsored along with other U.S. senators that would require paper ballots. He told Eugene Weeklythat the end goal could be exporting the Oregon model of vote by mail to the rest of the country because no other form of voting is as tried and trusted.

Sen. Ron Wyden’s Eugene City Club event is noon to 1:15 pm, Friday, Nov. 2, at the University of Oregon’s Baker Downtown Center, located at 975 High Street. Free for City Club members, $5 for public. — Henry Houston
