Rwanda’s Unimaginable Journey Post Genocide
November 10 • 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Imagine a country where there is no litter, where people feel safe anywhere and anytime, and where there is no corruption. Imagine that country has universal healthcare, a safety net helping the poorest 25%, and a democratic government with over fifty percent women. Consider that this country ranks 140 out of 190 on the IMF’s GDP scale and that 24 years ago it was a failed state after a genocide killed a million people in 100 days. This is Rwanda’s story
John Mugabo, the Director of Millennium Promise/Millennium Villages in Rwanda, will be giving a presentation about Rwanda’s unimaginable journey over the last 24 years. John will talk about the remarkable restorative justice program that has re-integrated most of the genocidaires and the efforts to develop a new economy that will truly make Rwanda a model for other African nations.
The presentation is sponsored by the Rwanda English Project, a Eugene based non-profit. Come join us from 2-4 on November 10th at the Eugene Friends Church, 3495 W.18th Avenue, Eugene.
