SLUG Queen Competition & Coronation

August 10 • 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Hear ye, hear ye. The Society for the Legitimization of the Ubiquitous Gastropod (SLUG) announces the need for a new “raining” SLUG Queen. The festivities kick off at 6 pm Friday, Aug. 10, with music by The One More Time Band. At 6:30 pm, the competition and coronation begins. The competition has three parts. First, each contestant will demonstrate their creativity by creating an imaginative slug outfit. Then the contestant will put on a public performance of a humorous or captivating talent. Lastly, each contestant must answer a single, local-specific question with wit and improvisation. Old Queens and celebrity judges will judge each contestant. This year, celebrity judges are Jenette Kime (EUG parade co-coordinator) and YMCA Director Brian Steffen. Of course, each SLUG contestant is encouraged to bribe the judges. The 36th Annual SLUG Queen Coronation runs 6 to 8 pm Friday, Aug. 10, at the Parks Block Stage (8th Avenue and Oak Street). The society declares that for maximum comfort to bring your own chair. FREE. — Henry Houston
