Songsmith Sunday, October 21, Katie Sontag, Ashlee Foster, and Ken Zimmerman
Songsmith Sunday is a monthly showcase of some of the Eugene area’s finest singer/songwriters in a listening environment where their voices and hearts can truly be heard. Songsmith takes place every third Sunday of the month, 6-8pm at Sam Bonds Brewery in the Foundry Building, 540 E. 8th Ave, Eugene.
This month’s show is hosted by Ken Zimmerman and features the rich voice and powerful stories of Ashlee Foster along with the rising Eugene-area talent Katie Sontag.
Ashlee Foster writes: “I live in Salem, OR and work as a Child Welfare Caseworker. I live my life in hopes of helping others as much as possible and strive to find passion in everything I do. For me, music is a beautiful gift and has been a large part of my healing while living in a broken world. Music and melodies reach a depth within me that spoken words have never been able to reach. Writing and playing music is a blessed way to share the heart and soul of things. “

Katie Sontag writes songs for her own healing and transformation and seeks to inspire the same in others. Her voice trembles with the truth of human emotion as her songwriting goes on a journey into the depth of her personal growth experience. Utilizing both human relationships and the beauty of nature as her primary muses, Katie writes beautiful songs that will touch your heart and leave you feeling better then when you came. Listening to her music has been described as receiving “a big hug”. She draws mainly from the Folk tradition. She is also the lead vocalist and songwriter for her band, Temple Under the Stars.
