The Steelhead Brewery Hosts the Launch Party for M. K. Martin’s Sci-Fi Thriller Survivors’ Club
April 21 • 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm• Free
Join Author M. K. Martin for a Party to Celebrate a Novel About the End of the World
It might sound strange to spend a Saturday night celebrating the end of the world, but that’s what fans of M. K. Martin’s debut novel Survivors’ Club will be doing at The Steelhead Brewery on the 21st at 7pm. They’ll enjoy an excellent dinner at 6 o’clock, then hear from the author herself and get signed copies of her sci-fi thriller about a virus that turns people into horrific abominations and threatens to become a worldwide pandemic. It might not seem appetizing, but it’s a great reason to raise a glass!
Survivors’ Club tells the story of brilliant geneticist Marius Tenartier who wants to cure humanity’s worst diseases. Chrysalis Biopharmaceuticals uses his work to mutate people into terrifying abominations. With the CEO’s fearless daughter, Marius races to stop the spreading infection before it becomes a global pandemic. The world is on the line, and the clock is ticking.
“A taut bio-thriller with an ensemble of protagonists so lovable you’ll want to take them home … and a threat so dire you’ll have nightmares” writes Karen Eisenbrey, author of Daughter of Magic and The Gospel According to St. Rage. And Mikko Azul, author of The Staff of Fire and Bone, writes, “…too plausible for comfort, the monsters much too close to home, and the knowledge that we have the technology to unleash such destruction is enough to leave the reader gasping right up to the very end!”
K. Martin is uniquely equipped to write this fantastic novel. She’s a a motorcycle-riding, linguistics nerd, and also a former Army interrogator with a degree in psychology who loves to give readers a glimpse into the darker corners of the human mind. A former resident of Eugene, she now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina, but is coming back to her old stomping grounds to celebrate with all the people who encouraged her as she crafted this thrillride of a novel. She’ll be signing copies at the party, and her publishing company, Not a Pipe Publishing, will be raffling off copies and Survivors’ Club swag.
Not a Pipe Publishing, an independent publishing company headquartered (fittingly) in Independence, Oregon, has accepted Kamila Shamsie’s challenge to only publish the works of female-identified authors in 2018. Since accepting the challenge back in 2016, Not a Pipe Publishing has signed seven women and will publish nine of their novels over the course of 2018. All their titles will be available at the party, and they’re excited to invite everyone to join in celebrating the diversity of women’s voices and the achievement of M. K. Martin in particular.
