The Willamette Valley Old-Time Social: Flatfoot Dance Lesson & Square Dance

As part of our whole weekend of fun for the Willamette Valley Old-Time Social, Mud City Old-Time Society is hosting a Flatfoot Dance Lesson with Rebecca Stout and a big Square Dance at the historic W.O.W. hall!
Doors open at 7pm with a flatfoot dance lesson by Rebecca Stout from Los Angeles area, and the dance will start at 8pm with The Horsenecks from Portland who play hard-hitting and heartfelt old-time dance music, brought to life with a high-energy performance. Gabe Strand from Seattle will call the hot squares and teach everything from scratch! No experience, special clothes or partner needed, although bringing friends will make more fun for everyone! All-ages, genders, sexual orientations, and abilities are totally WELCOME! This is a safe space for everyone!
This is event is part of Mud City Old-Time Society’s third annual old-time music and dance celebration, the Willamette Valley Old-Time Social in Eugene, Oregon May 3rd-6th. The Social will include a Thursday night kickoff party 1st National Taphouse, a Friday night BBQ jam fest, and workshops on Saturday at The Shedd for old-time fiddle, banjo, guitar, dance and voice, including one with two-time Grammy-nominated fiddler Bruce Molsky and his Mountain Drifters! Saturday evening will offer flatfoot dance lessons with Rebecca Stout and a big traditional square dance with The Horsenecks and Gabe Strand calling at the W.O.W. Hall. The whole weekend will finish off with a Sunday brunch and later that evening, a farewell concert with The Local Honeys at Sam Bond’s Brewing.
