UO Erb Memorial Union Art Opening
November 2 • 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm• Free
The University of Oregon Erb Memorial Union will celebrate its Permanent Art Collection at a public Art Opening on Friday, November 2, 2018, 5:30-7:30 pm. Guests will mingle with featured artists, join guided tours, participate in interactive EMU Craft Center art projects and enjoy live music and refreshments in the EMU Oregon Plaza.
Established in 1950 with a handful of donated pieces, the EMU Permanent Art Collection has grown to include 280 paintings, prints and sculptures with a focus on Pacific Northwest art and artists. Today’s collection includes works acquired through the EMU’s Pacific Northwest Art Annual competition, a large donation from the estate of former EMU Director Adell McMillan, as well as several new installations commissioned through Oregon’s Percent for Art, a state-run program that supports public art in state buildings. In storage throughout the EMU’s recent 3-year renovation, the EMU Permanent Art Collection has been reinstalled and is now on display throughout the building.
The EMU Art Opening is free and open to the public. Event Address: UO Erb Memorial Union, 1395 University St., Eugene OR, 97403. For more information call 541-346-3705
